American Program

The American Program offers an international education based on U.S. academic standards. It aims to develop compassionate, respectful, and lifelong learners who are well prepared for higher education and future careers. The program emphasizes critical thinking, research skills, problem-solving abilities, and a strong sense of community responsibility in a global learning environment.

Students may enroll in the American Program in Lebanon after obtaining an official exemption from the Lebanese curriculum and meeting one of the following conditions:

  • Lebanese students who have completed three grades of basic education abroad, or two consecutive grades in middle or high school outside Lebanon.

  • Non-Lebanese students or Lebanese students holding a foreign nationality.

Middle School (AP 6–9)

Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Sciences, Social Studies
Additional Subjects: Arabic as a Foreign Language, French (L3), Informatics, Religion, Arts, Drama, Physical Education, Educational Technology, Community Service

Language courses are taught according to student proficiency levels determined by placement tests at the beginning of the academic year.

High School (AP 10–12)

Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), Social Studies
Additional Subjects: Arabic as a Foreign Language, French (L3), Psychology, Informatics, Arts, Physical Education, Educational Technology, Community Service

Students are prepared for the SAT within their English and Mathematics classes.

Technology is integrated across the curriculum to enhance learning and prepare students for the digital age. Students develop digital literacy skills through responsible and effective use of technology, while online learning platforms support instruction in mathematics, sciences, and social studies through interactive and blended learning approaches.

Student progress is evaluated through a balanced assessment framework that supports continuous improvement:

  • Formative Assessment: Ongoing evaluations that monitor learning and provide feedback to improve understanding and performance.

  • Summative Assessment: End-of-term assessments measuring achievement of learning outcomes and academic progress.

  • Project-Based Learning: Projects and presentations that strengthen critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Upon successful completion of AP 12, students graduate with a High School Diploma and enroll in a Freshman Program at a university, in accordance with the regulations of the Lebanese Republic – Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

RHHS is actively working toward obtaining authorization to teach the American curriculum through accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). This process reflects the school’s commitment to high academic standards, continuous improvement, and quality assurance aligned with international best practices.
